Chapter 16 - The Rose-Colored River (Cont.)

Battle: The Great Bridge Coup

Deploy: Rikka, Dimitri (Marianne), Flayn, Dorothea, Ashe (Sylvain), Lysithea (Annette), Catherine, Petra, Hilda, Ingrid, Dedue

This map, like the battle in Ailell, has a lot of slower units with Archers, Armors, and Cavalry. However, the map is a fair bit more close quarters, and the reinforcement spawns can be a bit more dangerous to deal with. Also, like the previous map, there are a few items to steal, like a Master Seal and Aurora Shield from Ladislava. Petra was speed tied with Ladislava, so I fed her a Speed Carrot in order to break the tie before starting the map.

Going into this map, the biggest concern I have is with Acheron. Acheron pretty much drops in right on top of your units early on in the map, and it can spell trouble if his units are also allowed to start moving immediately when they do that. Fortunately, upon playing the map, Acheron's forces still do not get to perform a preemptive strike on your units. As a result, this map isn't too much trouble as long as I take the enemy forces slowly.

Dedue catches up with our forces and joins on Turn 2, though he's trailing in levels, so I hand him the EXP Gem and feed him a few kills during the map to get him to catch up.

The goal of the map is to defeat all commanders, and the commander stationed in the top-left of the map does not move until I am in range of them, so I focus first on taking out Ladislava, then deal with the enemies at the corner. The enemies don't get provoked to move from Ballista shots, so I used Hilda and Ingrid to just pelt the units with long-range shots before getting the commander units to move so that I can steal their Master Seals.

Overall, I have Petra steal two Master Seals, and Evade Ring, and the Aurora Shield, and I set up for the Goneril Valkyries Battalion to be at 1/3 HP to be better used by Dimitri with Battalion Vantage/Wrath.

We take the bridge and Fleche shows up saying how she wants to join our army seeking revenge for her brother. I don't know where that will end up going, but there's no way anything good is going to come from that. All I can do is hope it isn't anything TOO bad, for her or for Dimitri.
