Chapter 21 - Our Chosen Paths

As we are in August, I will assume that this is the final chapter, or at the very least this will be the last time at the Monastery. The full truth of the events of Tragedy of Duscur still have yet to be told.

Rikka, Ashe, and Annette hit S+ to obtain their respective Faire skills. I'm able to complete Dimitri's support list by the last exploration session. I have 1000 renown, so I do one more Statue upgrade, for +1 Divine Pulse, because why not?

On the week before the battle, Edelgard shows up to the call of the messenger for her and Dimitri to talk. As expected, she cannot be persuaded from her path of war. Edelgard wishes to overturn and erase the structure of religion and nobility in Fodlan to create a world rewarding the efforts and merit of its people. Dimitri wishes for a world that maintains religion and nobility and hopes that people can work together to peacefully reform its structure for a unified continent. We go our separate ways, knowing that the next battle will be a decisive one. Dimitri returns El her dagger, and tells her to cut a path to the future she believes in.

Confirming that this is the point of no return, we are given the S Support choice prompt. I choose Dimitri for a support end that I have not seen yet.

Battle: Assault on Enbarr

Deploy: Rikka, Dimitri (Gilbert), Flayn (Felix), Ashe (Petra), Lysithea, Catherine, Annette, Dorothea, Sylvain, Ingrid, Hilda, Dedue

We are now at the streets of Enbarr. There are additional fence barracades throughout the city as they are prepared for an all out assault. The enemies consist of a lot of mages, a handful of flying Demonic Beasts, and a handful of War Masters and Snipers towards the right hand side of the map. The goal is to defeat Hubert, but it will take a bit of effort to approach close enough for him to be at striking distance. Going into this map, I feel that my main concern isn't the enemies that I can see, but rather the enemies that I cannot. In other routes, there are enemies that will spawn from the top of the map immediately behind your units, and it can be a very bad thing for my team if the same still happens on this route.

Like the previous chapter, there are a lot of long-range weapons spread out along the map. Though, unlike the previous chapter, there is no easy way to walk to avoid most of the danger. So I have to handle the long range weaponry head on.My units start off as two different groups, but I join them together and take on the map starting from the right side alley ways.

This map is a fairly challenging map to get through. The winding alleys on the right make for some difficult positioning and a lot of danger with the handful of Dark Knights and Holy Knights around the area, and the long range weaponry near the area. I start the map with taking out the 4 enemies immediately in front of my units on the right, while my other group moves to try to join them, using Stride to speed up the process. I am able to take out the War Master on the Onager on the second turn, which allows me to make a bit of progress into the alleys. On the next turn, by utilizing another Stride and a Dance, I am able to run Lysithea way down the path way in order to take out the Sniper on the Ballista, then I use Flayn to rescue her back upwards. This however, causes a few enemies to start to move.

A Demonic Beast along with a couple of Holy Knights move up towards my units, making for some difficult positioning, as it is difficult to clear out the beast, let alone perform an Armor Break, without putting myself into risk of being hit by an Aura. After a retry, I am able to Armor Break the beast, and intentionally leave it alive to act as a positional wall to prevent other enemies from attacking me. This forced the Holy Knight that was in range to attack me to have to attack Dimitri at Range 1 and get taken out Vantage Wrath, and also got some other near by enemies to start moving as well because Dimitri was in "range", but they couldn't actually attack him because of the Demonic Beast. I'm able to clean out the enemies in the alleys, the start moving back left into the center square of town.

Rescue Hit and Run to KO the Warlock at the Opera House

I set up to have Ingrid take out the Warlock manning the Fire Orb at the Opera House, but this is when things get a bit dicey. Killing the Warlock allows me freedom to walk units into the center of town, but it also triggers a handful of Demonic Beasts to spawn on the following turn, and have the Demonic Beasts just south of the square to start to move. I end up in a position where I get quickly swamped with Demonic Beasts. To make matters worse, one of the spawns is right beside of the Opera House, which forces me to make some maneuvers in order to pull my units back out to safety from that part of the map.

BIRD UP

A few turns of fighting and throwing out a lot of gambits is required in order to safely survive the Demonic Beast onslaught. In some cases, I had Dedue throw out a gambit simply to draw attention because I just did not have enough manpower to be safely performing Armor Breaks or kills on all the beasts that were on me. Once those enemies were cleared out, I could finally make my way down to the palace gates.

Hubert is heavily guarded by a number of Gremory with Bolting or Meteor, so I set up a Retribution on Dimitri and let him go to work. Dimitri eliminiates all the long-range mages, allowing me some space to approach, and I take out Hubert from over the wall in front of him with a Hunter's Volley.

Three Divine Pulse uses. One to correct positioning on a turn early in the battle when walking through the right-side alley ways. Two more because I got caught off guard by the Demonic Beast reinforcements, one that spawns right beside the Opera House.
