We continue our match towards Tahra, and it is already nightfall as we encounter a thick forest region.

This is another dark map, and it's a bit of a nuinsance. Home of the bandit group Dandelion, a group of benevolent thieves, along with some brigands who are... not quite as benevolent. The main issue of this map is the dense forest, restricting movement, and the fact that you get pelted by Sleep Staff uses by Salem, the boss of the map. Remember what I said earlier about status effects. They are permanent. And this is before I have gotten any Restore Staves, so he basically gets to pick 3 units and incapacitate them for the rest of the battle. He's also kind of random on whether he even bothers using for a turn or not. Fortunately, the enemies in this map are not particularly strong, so even if some of my units get incapacitated, it's not a huge issue. There is a Paralogue to Chapter 12, which requires getting through the map at a fast enough pace. Salem is also recruitable by capturing him alive. He's got low CON though so it's not particularly difficult to get someone to be able to do it. In fact, Mareeta is in the area, who has recovered from the curse and has been given the Shadow Sword, purified by Saias, and she has has enough CON to capture Salem.

I take an initial reset because I don't quite remember where things are on this map, and another because of getting hit by a few too many 30%s. But there are a few target goals to this map. First is to save the houses. There are a couple houses to the north and south of the map. The second is to steal the Vantage manual from the boss. Lara happens to have just enough speed to get this job done. Once I'm done with that, I can simply have Karin ferry Leif over to the end point after Mareeta has captured Salem.

The map goes relatively smoothly. In playing the first few runs, I know that Salem will always target Dagdar, Halvan, and Finn for the units that I brought. In that order. So the map is mostly a matter of paying attention to who's up next on the Sleep queue, and making sure they aren't super close to any enemies while doing so. I use the Paragon Manual on Olwen. Karin heads south on the starting turn to defend the house on the south. Along with her I have Finn, Olwen, Leif and Asbel move down along with her. My other characters head up north. There is a shop in the top that sells Door Keys, Wind Tomes, and Torches, and I stock up on a few items here. After the enemies close to me are taken out, I have Karin rescue Leif, and head left, pick up one more house, though it's just a Vulnerary, then head towards the gate.

Capturing Salem is kind of dangerous, admittedly. He does 22/23 HP to Mareeta if he hits, and poisons her making it very risky to attack him without some help. I wait until Leif and Karin are close enough then go in for the attack. She does manage to capture him, but gets left at 1HP and Poisoned. But I'm able to avoid death by having Karin take Salem, then remove Mareeta's equipment so that a Brigand would pick her up. Then I KO'd the Brigand to release her so she bypasses the Poison and is released before seizing gate.
