Chapter 21 - The War of Liberation

Leif meets with Seliph. They agree to a plan of Seliph continuing the march of the liberation army along the coast side towards Connaught, fighting the main force of Friege head on. In the mean time, Leif's army is free to cut straight through to Munster to reclaim the capital of Northern Thracia. If all goes well, him and Seliph will rendezvous in Munster. Julia mentions that it might be a good idea to visit the church to the east side of this map before the two armies part ways.

This map is another ballista heavy map, and is sort of a calm before the storm of some of the most diffcult maps of the game coming up. I can one turn clear the map, but due to the fact that I only got to get one warp staff due to choosing the other route, and that I REALLY want the warp staff uses for the next map, I'll have to make do with playing this map at least somewhat as intended, with the goal of dashing up to the boss to KO them, then warping Leif in to seize. By this point in the game, fatigue is a bit less of a factor as most of my units have a real HP stat, so they can last a few chapters consecutively. But the game still gives me way too many deploy spots, so I just fill the remainder with units with leadership stars. Similar as with the previous map.

I do a bit of scouting of the map, to start, to see what some of the houses and the shops have, for an intentional +1 reset. A couple more resets as a result of missing at 99% (yes, twice). The map ends up being a bit more messy than I was expecting it to be. Originally I was supposed to try to get Dean and Lara around to the right side of the map then make a rush downward to kill the boss and then warp Leif in, but things don't go quite as planned.

I start off by using a Pure Water / Magic Staff to buff Olwen's magic, then drop down a bunch of Boltings to shoot down Ballistas around the map. I also silence staff the priest with Sleep so he doesn't get in the way. From there, I had Linoan go to the church on the right along with Mareeta, Olwen, Dean, Finn, Lara and Glade while the rest of my forces headed south to try to deal with the Thracian mercenaries. But for some reason most of them flew upward and away from those forces, instead going after my other group, slowing them down. By the time I was able to deal with the Wyverns, other enemy reinforcements started showing up, further slowing my progress. Waves of cav units started flooding in from just under the church making it difficult to reach it, let alone set up Dean with a flight path to the castle. I had Linoan Nosferatu tank the enemies to hold the line, which also helped shoot up her level all the way to 20 before I could even set foot in the church.

Eventually I got fed up with waiting, and Rescue Staff'd both Lara and Dean back down to the south group, then rushed in against the boss and then Warp Staff'd Leif to clear. The fort we capture appears to already have been abandoned by the time we capture it, so we prepare for our next fight. Which will be at the crossing of a river.
