Final Thoughts on the Roster

Byleth (Pecorine) - B+

Class: Gremory
Weapons: Axe / Reason

Axe Reason Gremory was something. Byleth was kind of okay for most of the game, but not that great. One thing Byleth did well was having high Authority to take advantage of some of the higher level Battalions, and in general just having a decent enough damage output to still be one of my better attackers throughout the game. She used Axes for most of Part 1, and used Magic a bit more in Part 2. Byleth had a little bit of an issue with having fairly low bulk.

Dimitri - A

Class: Mortal Savant
Weapon: Bow / Reason

For all realistic purposes, Dimitri was an Archer the entire game. tbh, It wasn't even that I was going out of my way to have him stay as Archer as long as he could. Due to him being pretty much untrainable for about half of Part 2, and the other half of Part 2 being one-turn maps, he spent very little time as a Mortal Savant.

Still, as the sole bow user of the team, he was very useful with range superiority. He also hits like a truck and was pretty fast, such that he was able to 2x hit enemies for most of the game. Battalion Vantage/Wrath was a key component in getting through the final map without having it be an intense struggle.

Dedue - B

Class: Mortal Savant
Weapons: Sword / Reason

Dedue basically never used magic, and was a mono-sword unit. He was... surprisingly good as a sword unit. Basically still had all the defense you normally know Dedue for, except that he had a speed stat. His defense basically kept up with the stats of Hard mode enemies so he could barely be scratched by them, while he hit decently hard and well with swords.

I'd consider him B+ if he didn't have the issue of being absent for a good chunk of Part 2.

Felix - D(ancer)

Class: Dancer
Weapons: Lance / Faith

A Dancer is a Dancer. So about the only thing you can really put into question is how useful was Felix before he became a Dancer. And the answer to that is he was useful enough, as his personal is most useful in the early game.

Sylvain - B

Class: Bishop
Weapons: Sword / Faith

Sylvain is a weird case. He was kind of mediocre at doing things, but filled a lot of different roles for the team. Having additional offense spells in his White Magic spell set, and having Physic was nice. He mostly took advantage of 4 range with Thyrsus to chip at enemies or KO Archers and Armors, while doing patch healing with Physic. Low movement was his biggest disadvantage.

Ingrid - S

Class: Falcon Knight
Weapons: Sword / Lance

Being the only character on my draft team that was basically unscathed from restrictions, Ingrid is the run MVP without question. Her gaining a bunch of Str levels along the way helped a lot in securing her position after a bit of a shaky opening. Her existing is the sole reason why the last quarter of the game, and a few maps in between, basically got skipped. Essentially making it hard to read how useful everyone else really was by the time they reached their end class because Ingrid just never let them play.

Mercedes - C

Class: Fortress Knight
Weapons: Axe / Brawl

Took a LOT of babying to build up, given that she had to raise 2 different skills she was disadvantaged in. Her Magic was way higher than her Str for most of the game, and she was more or less stuck to low movement classes. She finally got some time to shine a bit in Part 2. Her bulk made her impossible to kill which was very useful for some of the early part 2 maps. She eventually got the Bolt Axe as well, which made her a legitimate threat in terms of damage output. However, that time to shine got cut short by Ingrid invalidating the last quarter of the game. Would say she was C+, but it took way too much effort to get her to a point where she could to something.

Ashe - C+

Class: Great Knight
Weapons: Lance / Axe

The requirements for Great Knight are awful. Ashe spent most of the game more or less being a better Mercedes. Great Knight was also pretty nice to have as another mounted with Reposition. For most of Part 2 he could easily shrug off physical attacks, and had a lot stronger physical damage output than Mercedes, which could allow him to OHKO some enemies with A rank axes. Still, it did take a bit of effort to train him up to be servicable, and a lot of 2 stat level ups did not help his case.

Petra - C

Class: Warlock
Weapons: Reason / Faith

She spend all of Part 1 on adjutant duty. She gained like 2 points of magic her entire life. Somehow though, once she actually became a Warlock, she was actually a legit strong attacker. Sadly, that time was cut short by Ingrid invalidating the last quarter of the game. And by the time we needed to fight again, the enemy strength jumped up so much that she no longer 2x hit things, nor did much damage as stuff like Mortal Savants actually have a res stat. So the payoff wasn't really worth. But hey, at least most of it was being on the bench as an adjutant?

Lorenz - C

Class: Holy Knight
Weapons: Lance / Faith

I'm... not sure what to make of Lorenz. For all essential purposes, being a Cav is one of the classes he's intended to be as, and he was a Cav / Paladin for most of the game. And yet, he some how ended up completely garbage as an attacking unit. He also has an issue of lack of availability. Honestly, he should be D+, but he did fill the niche of being a monuted repo / stride bot, which is more useful than what Petra and Mercedes was doing for a lot of the game.

Flayn / Manuela / Hanneman (Freebies)

Flayn: A
Manuela: B
Hanneman: N/A

I didn't use Hanneman at all, Flayn was very good as usual, between having Fortify, high Charm for gambits, and Rescue as a hit and run / movement tool. Manuela is B solely for Warp usage, otherwise she wasn't used much at all.
